We Help Your Child Build Confident
Below are the specific areas we assess and strengthen to help students read with accuracy, fluency, and understanding so they can finally keep up, participate, and feel proud of their progress.
Reading Comprehension
We teach active reading strategies like summarizing, visualizing, and asking questions to help students understand what they read, connect ideas, and improve their ability to follow stories or informational text.
When reading is slow and choppy, it’s hard for students to follow the text. Our tutors work through guided oral reading, repeated practice, and phrasing techniques to help students read smoothly and accurately.
Vocabulary Development
A limited vocabulary often holds students back from understanding new material. We expand their word knowledge through direct instruction, context-based learning, word mapping, and exposure to rich, grade-appropriate language.
If students struggle to recognize letters or common sight words, reading becomes frustrating and slow. We strengthen their automatic recognition through multisensory repetition, targeted drills, and pattern-based word exposure.
Guessing at words or skipping over them is often a sign of weak decoding skills. We teach students how to decode using phonics rules, syllable patterns, and blending strategies.
Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia; Hyperlexia
We use Orton-Gillingham, a multisensory, step-by-step method that teaches phonics and spelling to help dyslexic learners. For hyperlexia, we build comprehension through guided discussion and text-based thinking.
Auditory; Visual Processing
We help kids who mix up sounds or letters with phonemic drills, auditory sequencing, and visual tracking activities, strengthening the brain’s ability to process sounds, words, and text accurately while reading.
We begin with a phone or video consultation to learn about your child’s reading challenges, grade level, and goals. You’ll also share any school feedback or past assessments to help us understand the full picture.
If needed, we schedule a one-time skills screening. This 45–60 minute session evaluates reading fluency, phonemic awareness, decoding, comprehension, and vocabulary helping us tailor the instruction to your child’s needs.
We hand-match your child with a tutor based on personality fit, grade level expertise, and any specific needs (such as dyslexia, ADHD, or confidence-building). You’ll receive the tutor’s background and schedule confirmation before your first session begins.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes for younger students (Pre-K–Grade 4) or 90 minutes for older students (Grades 5–8 or with multiple goals). The tutor arrives at your home with a prepared plan based on assessment results. Each session includes:
5–10 minutes of warm-up (sound review, word games)
30–40 minutes of targeted instruction (e.g., phonics, decoding, fluency drills, or comprehension strategies)
10–15 minutes of skill practice (reading aloud, answering questions, writing summaries)
5-minute wrap-up with next steps
Materials may include decodable readers, phonics cards, vocabulary organizers, and grade-aligned texts.
Our tutors assess progress during every session, looking at reading accuracy, speed, comprehension responses, and level of independence. Every 4–6 weeks, we formally review growth and adjust goals or methods if needed. You’ll receive monthly progress updates showing what skills your child has improved and what we’re currently targeting.
After each session, we will provide a short verbal summary or written note: what your child worked on, what went well, and how you can help reinforce skills at home (e.g., rereading a passage, practicing a specific sound pattern). We encourage open communication and offer flexible scheduling if something comes up.

If you checked more than one, it’s likely your child would benefit from personalized reading support. Early intervention makes a lasting difference, and we’re here to help.
We provide expert in-home tutoring across all subjects, with a specialized focus on reading and literacy.
The tutors are certified teachers and reading interventionists trained in structured methods like Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading, and evidence-based comprehension strategies. We are trained to break down complex reading skills into step-by-step instruction, using multisensory tools that engage visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners.
Each lesson is built from your child’s assessment results, classroom curriculum, and observed needs. This means we target exactly what your child is missing, whether it’s decoding multisyllabic words, building fluency, or understanding what they’ve read and teaching it in a way they can absorb and apply.
